Non, single or double, no idea. They didn't state anywhere in their design
documents.

The .26/4000 out of 231 is more logical however they noted OH3 on their design
data table.

Class IV commodities would have made sense.

Thanks all for the input.

Craig,

>increase for 25-feet is about .26/4000.
Or as Larry suggests, Class 4 to 20-feet is about .26/4000.

Ord Haz-3 density was .21/1500 and storage height was limited to 12-feet high
so I don't that's the design criteria.
Was the preaction system single or double-interlocked?

0.26 / 4000 looks a lot like Class IV Commodities, palletized or solid pile
storage to 20 ft, with ordinary-temperature sprinklers. Check out Figure
14.2.4.1 in your 2007 edition of NFPA 13. The curves haven't changed much since
they were originally introduced in NFPA 231, back in day.

Subject: 1978 NFPA 13 question

I'm looking for the definition of what was covered by an Ordinary Hazard Group
3 classification based on the 1978 NFPA 13.

I have a warehouse designed at .26/4000 with 600 gpm hose stream allowance,
Ordinary Hazard Group 3. It was a preaction system with area heat detection.
(non-heated whse).

Trying to figure out what the EOR was basing the design on as far as
anticipated type of storage.

25 ft high piled (no racks), 35 ft high ceiling.
