No, with Vertical Inline pumps the suction into the eye of the impeller is from 
one side (the bottom) to flow imbalances are not a critical factor. With 
Horizontal Split-case pumps the suction into the eye is form both sides so 
imbalances can cause uneven loads on the bearings and wear rings.
