Really agree with that Craig and I must say that you have been and continue to
be one heck of a great contributor. I have sure learned from you, so thanks for
your input!

Understood.

People reading this forum need to understand the limits of assistance that can
be offered. This is a resource to point them in the direction they should go,
after that it's up to them to figure it out from there.

Hey, I know YOU know that, but if someone else is starting in the middle I
thought I'd point it out.

I should have been more specific that they need to get it to someone else to
determine all of the requirements.

Take care,

Scott

I'm very well aware of all the requirements for this. I'm not getting into
every aspect of the code analysis on this forum and doing someone else's work.
I'll hit the highlights and expect the person asking the questions to go and do
their homework and fill in the blanks or find someone that can.

Thanks,

Craig,

I must point out that the Fire Code for an existing building, is where you
start, if the fire code has been adopted in the jurisdiction (and usually, but
not always it is). Not NFPA 30, not the Building Code, the Fire Code. Then
proceed with requirements and be careful, NFPA 30 and the IFC protection
requirements are not one hundred percent identical.
