Totally agree to not touch it with a ten foot pole. From: Sprinklerforum [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of Travis Mack, SET Sent: Monday, March 06, 2017 2:13 PM To: [email protected] Subject: Re: Code requirements for antifreeze.
I have seen a few that do. There are still some in the SW states where we have freezing conditions that allow the use of AF solutions. However, I always turn down projects where the customer asks me to design an AF system. Basically, the AHJ has little to no liability, as I understand it, should something bad happen. Because of that, I will either do it as a dry system, or will not touch the project. After researching and email discussions with the State Fire Marshal's Office, I found out that CT still allows antifreeze systems to be installed based on the old requirements. Most jurisdictions that I am aware of have either adopted 2013 or 2016, or have amended their Codes to prevent new antifreeze system until a listed solution arrives. How many other jurisdictions still allow these systems based on the old requirements?
