NFPA 13R does not mandate you include the hose allowance. You have to
include the domestic allowance where the split occurs.

That has always been my understanding.

Subject: Light Hazaed areas in NFPA 13R Building

If a building is designed per NFPA 13R, a sorority house. The first floor
has some common areas ( study rooms, library , entry way) that are to be
designed per NFPA 13. Do you still need to include the 100 hose for light
hazard. Engineer is arguing you can omit the hose allowance for the light
hazard areas. Has anyone run into this?
