When you step through the changes over the years in NFPA regarding the roadway box setup for fire protection service you will notice there was a change a couple of years back that eliminated the AHJ’s prerogative to demand the post indicator setup. The wording change is subtle but it definitely removed the AHJ's prerogative as if that was the change’s specific intent. That is how I recall it. I do not believe this has ever been mentioned here. Good luck convincing the dyed-in-the-wool followers who are used to a former standard that one might figure was too basic to ever get changed. Keep in mind there are some cities with an ordinance that straight up requires the PIV setup.
