2013 NFPA 72 Chapter 7 details the documentation requirements [including those for shop drawings in the subsections of Section 7.4]. Be sure to read the corresponding annex sections for Ch.7. I recommend using the handbook so you also get to read the NFPA commentary information to achieve a better understanding.
