When there is a will, there is a way. The paddle-type water flow device can be installed in a small parallel byp[ass run of this suction line with an appropriate large hole strainer, supervised maintenance valves and all the trimmings. Engineer it so that it gets enough flow through this bypass section to trip the indicator. It is a solution to the detachment concern. You guys have seen this concept used all the time in the water company’s equipment. Come on now. I am not endorsing the requirement, just saying there is a logical way to detect flow this way.
