One solution is to comply with NFPA 13 Section 25.7 “In-Rack Sprinkler
Protection Options Independent of Ceiling-Level Sprinklers.” This requires
solid horizontal barriers, including a top barrier. Then install Ordinary
Hazard Group 2 at roof level, which otherwise limits storage to less than
12-feet.

This requires a design level resolution and sprinkler resolution.

Unfortunately, the ceiling is higher than 55ft

The Tyco ESFR34 is designed for 50'-0 of storage with maximum ceiling height of
55'-0 and I think the Reliable M336 is the same

I don't know of any other sprinklers that will go that high or higher. The only
other protection schemes I am aware of include providing ESFR in rack
sprinklers (ESFR in racks can be placed with larger height intervals than
traditional in rack sprinklers)

Thanks

I am curious if anyone can direct me on how to design ceiling only protection
for a building with a roof greater than 50ft. The building will eventually
have storage, but there is no information about the racking at this time. What
is known is that it will have Class I-IV commodities.
