Thanks Martin for the link,
However I want to use the Pythonxy distribution (including SPYDER) on my 64
bit Win 7.
Win 7 specifics dealing with path and directory issues cause problems
(e.g.unable to start Spyder).
If we could somehow could avoid these win 7 specifics then the Pythonxy
package would be more generic and usable by more people. I guess for ini and
config settings the path and directories are used, but are they really
needed ? I found a .xy directory with ini and cofig settings. I think access
to the directory where these files are placed is problematic on Win7(even
with administrator rights). Can the .xy be placed in a different directory ?

I use an old laptop with XP where Pythonxy and Spyder are running fine but I
prefer my new 64 bit laptop and desktop for the programming...
Thanks,
Arthur
