As a clarification, there are two groups of projects that NumFOCUS is looking at right now. The first is a group that has approved funding:
http://numfocus.org/?page_id=14 The second is a group for which they are seeking funding: http://numfocus.org/?page_id=173 Python(x,y) and Spyder fall into this second group. In other words, they would like to find an organization who will sponsor some development for these, but none has stepped forward yet.
