Spyder and IPython need to be installed in the same interpreter. If
you're using virtualenvs or something like that, the option won't be
available.

I am on linux mint 17.1
I have tried spyder for python 2 and 3, version 2.2.5 and 2.2.4
Installed using synaptic and manually from source
