I think it'd be great to have more people use Spyder! The following are 
just some of my comments for discussion.

1) I think in conferences you see a lot of ipython notebook, because that 
is what the ipynb is designed for - showcasing code together with some 
illustrations and results. Spyder is an IDE, and it serves a different 
purpose.

2) I also think the fact that Anaconda by default uses Spyder is a big 
thing.
