I agree, but now you're talking getting the amalgamation/repo and stuff (also not exceedingly difficult, but granted will take a lot longer), he was however not claiming having difficulty with that, the difficulty was only the "learning how to make a build script" and that (in SQLite's case) is well documented and can be done in minutes.
