Thanks kidstypike for showing the relevant setting. I don't consider
playlist files to be music files -- those which contain the actual audio
-- so I reckon I never thought to click the little "i" information
button next to that setting when I started snooping around after reading
Mynb's tantalizing comment.

Apparently LMS considers .m3us and other ASCII playlist files to be
music files and somehow gets stuck in them during scanning? Why is that
on as default? Seems that most folk should not have to worry about where
they put their playlists -- put the Beethoven piano sonatas playlist in
the folder containing the tunes. It probably makes sense to somebody,
but I don't get it.

No disrespect to everyone who works on this, nor to the support group
here, nor the actual software. The system works as advertised and there
are so many hardware and software players available that I have one
running on an Android tablet, one on a Linux netbook, and one on a
Windows 10 laptop. Oh -- my iPhone, too. All work just fine.

*Back to the OT* -- I am still getting Endless Scanning. It says it has
scanned everything, but shows no results, and needs to be aborted. But
not all the time. Earlier today I launched a manual Clear Library and
Rescan and it terminated by itself in a few minutes . . . but had no
results. The log indicated that it had been aborted. Wasn't me, honest.
I then launched another scan, same settings, and it's plugging along.
Will see if it terminates normally or hangs.
