I'm just using Settings > Advanced > Rescan Music Library function: 22435
Now at 0612 it is again stuck in Endless Scan after having obediently launched another rescan at 0100. 22436 It baffles science. I am going to change the rescan from "Look for New and Changed Media Files" to "Clear Library and Rescan Every Darn Thing" and see if it terminates normally.
