As far as I understand, the only reason this is an issue is that: - on startup LMS does a "changed and missing" scan - on playback a missing file will be removed from the library. (I'm not even sure about this one tbh.)
Are there other places where missing files will be removed? Just prevent the auto-scan on startup and you're good.
