If you are thinking about updating lms on the Qnap, then v.7.8 is as far as you can go easily with SSOTS without messing with the Qnap. I would say to give it up now and invest in a raspberry pi 3b, install LMS v7.9.1 on the pi and keep your music files on the nas.
