Sounds like hes runnnng the Pi as a router between LAN and WiFi. As others have said LMS will bind to one address. The use case isnt described so almost impossible to answer except one point. Its easy to set a static or reserved ip on the LAN side. You can reserve via whatever is running dhcp You can static via ifconfig
