I have a Pi3 running piCorePlayer/LMS, with files on a QNAP NAS. The Pi
has a cable connection to the router, as does the NAS, and the whole
ensemble is tucked away upstairs. All my players connect via WiFi.

I would generally recommend connecting the Pi that's running LMS to the
network by cable. The NAS is plenty fast enough.

Plenty of advice about piCorePlayer in the Linux/Unix forum, but TonyT
has provided the key links above.
