pCP keeps the OS in memory and does not read/write to the SD card after
is loads.  A power failure should not have corrupted the SD card — more
likely you had a power surge.

Also unless the media files are on a large microSD (not recommended), I
would just keep a backup image of the SD Card and keep the Cache on the
media drive (and not the SD Card).
