So I still run LMS on my ReadyNAS Duo v1 (Sparc). Am I understanding correctly here that I can instead run LMS on a Raspberry Pi yet keep my music on my ancient NAS? And that I'd presumably see a significant performance increase, e.g. also when browsing music on a player or iPeng?
Yes, definitely. Responding in interactive use should be much faster. Scan times could be slow still, as the NAS might still be limiting factor there. The NAS I'm using is a Duo v2 - which already would be considerably faster than the v1. And yet the Pi beats it easily.
