I'm quite certain that all tags and other fields are identical (other than track-specific things). All the "old" files were deleted, and the "new" files copied in. The new files were all massaged through MP3Tag, and had identical tags (all files selected, any necessary changes made, and then the file info saved as a group). MP3Tag showed nothing as being different across files, except for the tracks, in the first place.
I'm sure that the issue will be resolved by forcing a re-scan, which I will do after I finish the remaining ten or twelve albums. r.
