I don't know enough about Windows to know whether something along the
lines of my 'fix' could work. I have my doubts, I don't know why.

According to my current observations, yes, you are right. On the face of
it, my 'fix', or something like it, should work on 'your' linux box,
because it seems to be working on 'my' linux box. You could implement it
locally if a fix is not available in the distributed version of LMS.

I do think you should find a way of uploading your own 'failing' cue/wav
files so that they can be tested. There may be something else going on
as well.

At this stage, I don't know what form a 'proper fix' might take in LMS.
it would have to be compatible with all platforms -
Windows/Linux/BSD/Other.

Perhaps a suitably modified locale forgiving -flac-.
