I added the "--d_startup" to SLIMOPTIONS in /etc/default/squeezeboxserver but the log file doesn't give me any more information (it's still the exact same message).
Hmm... I'm not familiar with the ReadyNAS anymore... but you could try to run "/usr/sbin/squeezeboserver -d_startup" manually from the shell. That should give you all the errors that are not logged to server.log.
