You could replace your router with one that has the VPN server built in. If you went that route Id recommend a Draytek Vigor as it supports L2TP and SSL based VPNs both of which will work with an iPhone. (PPTP will not work as Apple have removed support). I am pretty certain that when you bring up a VPN on an iPhone it does not route ALL traffic to your home but only the needed connection in this case iPeng. The above combination works well.
