Hi there,

just for the record: the scan finished eventually. Afterwards the
"Empty" music folder issue resolved itself without further intervention:
the entire structure of subfolders simply showed up in the Web-UI.

However, in the meantime I had added ~200 releases to the collection.
After syncing those changes over to the squeezebox server, I tried
triggering another "Updates only" scan. While the Web-UI claimed a scan
was running, I did not get to see anything in the console (watch -n1 "ps
aux |grep -i scan"). Tried a few times and gave it some time in case
there was some delay until a process would finally show up. Gave up
after ~20 minutes when there was still no scanner process.

Restarted the squeezeboxserver service, tried again and then it worked
instantly. Seems the squeezeboxserver process itself was in a weird
state after all. Perhaps that would also be the explanation for this
"Empty" folder thing.

Dunno it it's useful for anyone, but this is the crontab entry I
eventually came up with after watching the process list:

0 3 * * 6 /usr/bin/perl /usr/libexec/squeezeboxserver-scanner
--logdir=/var/log/squeezeboxserver
--logconfig=/var/lib/squeezeboxserver/prefs/log.conf --priority=-15
--noimage --rescan --prefsdir=/var/lib/squeezeboxserver/prefs --novideo
--debug
formats.playlists=ERROR,scan.auto=DEBUG,formats.audio=ERROR,database.virtuallibraries=ERROR,database.info=ERROR,scan.scanner=ERROR,artwork=ERROR,scan.import=ERROR,scan=ERROR

This example will automatically trigger an "Updates only" scan each
Saturday night, 3 A.M.

Best,
Ray
