I think there are some misunderstandings in this thread. All suggestions
here basically result in the file being downloaded from the LMS server
(i.e. a  copy is created on the local machine). Even if this works,
modifying this file is pointless, as the original file obviously will
remain unchanged - you'd have to upload the local copy to the LMS server
(a very inefficient workflow...)
If I understand your requirements correctly, then the only solution is
to mount the LMS server's music as a network drive on your workstation,
so that mp3tag can modify the original.
The remaining problem is to make the local and remote paths match. On a
Linux client, that would be simple (as you can mount any drive wherever
you want), but as you use WIndows, that's actually rather tricky.
The only possibility I can think of is to use a clipboard manager like
'CopyQ' (https://copyq.readthedocs.io/de/latest/index.html) and define a
hotkey which replaces the remote with the local  path and executes
mp3tag with this as an argument.
