Definitely LMS does not change the audio bit stream - so the issue might be anything that could affect the player rendering the bit stream. Different volume can affect perception so perhaps a different player setting such as Track Gain / Album Gain / SmartGain. If using a DAC maybe the volume lock at 100% has changed.
