Thanks for your help. Unfortunately, problem still exists.
I used this in conver.conf (only change was adding the $RESAMPLE$
correct?). edited convert.conf I used is attached.
However, problem still exists. Maybe my text editor did something
weird? Also, initially I rebooted my rPi *after* editing before trying
again. But I found that the rebooting brought back the prior
convert.conf (edits weren't saved). So next I edited the convert.conf
but didn't reboot or restart LMS. Problem with loud static still there
(actually, something new, even when I stop the playing of the track, the
loud static stops, but I hear a much quieter constant lower volume
squeal in the speakers. Playing a different 16/44.1 track then goes
back to normal and sounds good. No problem with speakers.
