This was more or less the issue. I had been trying to do this on a Win 10 machine and a Win 7 professional w administration locks on it. I tried it on an older Win XP laptop, made a few adjustments to media sharing settings on it, and now I am able To see the Vortexbox and SonicNAS as actual drives/folders and not just media players. Im able to map to the drive etc. Thanks everyone for all the help.
