This would guarantee jumping to the next track. I realised this when seeking forward in a track after setting the sleep function. In this case sleep occured around a minute into the next track. So the sleep timer is a simple timer calculated from the remaining time for a track. If this time is a few jiffies short then it will stay on the same track so add a second and Bob's your uncle.
