The hardware should be fine. I suspect corrupted db and/or artwork cache. Potentially a lot of work but I'd be tempted to uninstall LMS, remove all files that might be left and reinstall the latest version from scratch. How long does a Clear & Rescan take? You have 3 x the amount of files I have but that shouldn't be an issue.
