Assuming files haven't change,settings are the same and file scanning works OK on the M1 processor (which should be OK as it is ARM) - the issue could be performance rather than settings. If LMS is a bit slow to respond to request for data - then gapless may fail. You indicate thta LMS has seemed slow at times so perhaps this is a indication there is somehting wrong.
LMS is single threaded process so if a "task" (e.g. a plugin, I/O) hogs/delays the LMS system - it will affect everything including responding to request either from a user or from a player.
