The lmsupdate script is completely external to the sections of pCP code
that changes the mounting.  Assuming you are using a farily recent pCP. 
There is really no way for that to happen, except to accidentally
change it while you had a mounting error.  The likely cause was a
mounting error due to a power outage.  The NAS will boot much slower
than your pCP device and you will end up with a mount error.   And while
investigating you accidentally changed it.

With a synology nas, the network wait timeout of 30 is quite a bit too
small.   You likely need 50-80
