Agreed, Ive purchased at least 200 cd's over the last few years as a
direct result of discovering new artists and/or rediscovering artists I
had forgotten about.

I wonder whether there is a significant difference between the buying
patterns of communities like Squeezebox users (and owners of lesser
audio streaming devices) compared with the mainstream music buying
population, which I understand to be characterised by gen-Y who are
perhaps less concerned with particular artists/albums and more inclined
to consume singles on the run.

Irrespective, the world is changing and, like the rest of us, the 
music industry is going to have to adapt or perish.
