Softsqueeze cannot play WMA so it relies on SC to do transport of audio stream from stations and also the decoding of WMA into a playable format. Once decoded the SC typically sends a Flac stream (decoded from WMA) to Softsqueeze. Squeezebox has native WMA decoding which means it communicates directly with the broadcasting stations. So the two "devices" have very different transport and playing mechanisms.
OK - by installing alienbbc you have now told SC to use AlienBCC to do the WMA decoding. This culd explain the change in message. It is not clear why the default decoder was not working but please check the following on WebUI. Settings/Advanced/Filetypes/Windows Media. I expect the WAV, Flac and MP3 to refer to "mplayer" which is part of AlienBBC and not "wmadec" (which is the standard decoder). If that is the case - please confirm that AlienBBC works OK and plays BBC live Radio 4 stream. Do you have any security s/w installed on the WHS such as Norton or McAfee. -- bpa ------------------------------------------------------------------------ bpa's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=1806 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=57525 _______________________________________________ squeezenetwork mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/squeezenetwork
