No, he certainly did not. I am new to SB and I can definitely relate.
The entire user community seems bound and determined to confuse and
obfuscate. There doesn't seem to be any reliable software other than
the server software. What software there is, isn't documented very
well, if at all, is out-of-date or both labeled "beta" and out-of-date,
which really shouldn't be possible. Woefully out –of-date documentation
exists and is sometimes even updated for new versions without removing
out-of-date information which leads to a mish-mash of new and old
information together. And then there is the seemingly unending
variations of Squeeze*, Slim*, Jive*, naming of resources. There needs
to be one single source for all current Squeezebox related resources and
user communities. All of the old stuff should be expunged or at least
very clearly segregated and labeled as obsolete and outdated.

There seems to be no verification of third-party plug-ins for proper
operation. A surprising number of which don't work or have been
superseded by new (read duplicate) versions that aren't available
unless you know what custom repository to add. Even worse, I'm willing
to be to bet someone could put a third-party plug-in up that contains
malware and we wouldn't know until it was too late. The Squeezeplay
software doesn't work, plain and simple. The correct way to do it
would be to make the release version of SqueezePlay supported and
available from the same download location where users can download the
server software. The client and entire plug-in system should be
reworked from the ground up. It’s a mess.

The hardware, so far, has functioned well and maybe that says something
about Logitech's ultimate goal. Their actions and my experiences so far
might lead one to think they are actively discouraging any active user
community or software tools.

Logitech really needs to step it up. I'll be sending this message to
their support as well.

Sorry to hijack your thread BillLogi but I needed to get this off my
chest too.
