For what is worth I've discovered that if you rename the folder 
C:\Program Files\Squeezebox\SqueezePlay\lua\applets\SetupWelcome

You can escape the endless PIN request loop.  Shouldn't be necessary
but oh well.  I can't say that fixes the software but it is a start. 
Looks like it requires an IP address instead of DNS name.  Silly, but
maybe there is a workaround for that too.  I'll see what I can find.
