I tried installing LMS8 on my Macbook and Tidal still has limit of 550 artists when looking at the favourites. I assume there is some 'tidal package' to install on LMS8 that I am missing?
No, there isn't. The number of items per list is limited to lower the load on the back-end and latency getting the list. Some APIs are limited to 50 results per request, which means for 500 we already have to run 10 requests. Not optimal with the increasingly large collections...
