I switched to the login-auto pluggin, which uses cookies instead of the
htaccess. Toggle still 'missing'. Tried adding my site site to the trusted
sites. Still missing. Undid that. I commented out that pluggin in the
config.php, and toggle reappeared. Then uncommented the pluggin in the config,
and toggle remained. So, it's seems to be fixed. Not sure how it got tangled
up to begin with. Thanks for all the suggestions.

sounds like when login_auto is logging you in, the javascript check is
being bypassed... without looking at it, though, I would have assumed
that the javascript setting from your last login should hold... not sure
why it isn't. please post this to the plugins list if the problem
persists.
