Hi,
I'm running SM against the Oracle Collaboration SUite - an IMAP4 server using the Oracle RDBMS as the message store.
I have the 1.4.3.a version running on Redhat ES3.0 with 512M. The php.ini has the memory increased from 8M to 32M. It works very well.
However the one thing that appears slow is initial login. I'm using my account which has 2500 mails in the INBOX and around 100 folders, some nested.
I assumed the problem was the INBOX size, but I tried the plugin to have a different initial folder, choosing one with only a few emails. Same problem and in fact when I selected my inbox it opened in 8 seconds, pretty good especially as it's 5000 miles away from the server.
So ...
Can anyone suggest any problems , either in SM or the server that might cause the generation of the left hand folder list pane to be very slow (> 1 minute) ? Once loaded its fine.
If I try accessing the same account from a fresh install of pine it manages to download the full folder list almost instantly.
I assume a single IMAP command can list all folders. AN oddity which may be related is that I'm not automatically subscribed to all my folders but I cannot figure out the criteria it uses. Some folders were not subscribed , others were ? It didn't appear to be based on access time not name. odd.
I realise that individual IMAP servers have their own peculiarities and that SM has probably not be tested against the Oracle one. I did try setting the server type to "other", "cyrus" and even - gulp "exchange", but it didn't change the slow initial build of the folder list.
Any thoughts or suggestions gratefully received.
