Do be careful here.
Sam has written some nice software, and released to the general public. It
is not his -responsibility- to provide any support at all.
His answers have always been direct, succinct, and accurate. I would
consider him to be very helpful.
There is tons of free software out there with -no- support.
My impression: Sam is very busy, and though he spends time to answer
direct questions about how things work, or how to fix errors, he does not
have time to teach the basics of *nix or to hand-hold folks through
setting up things.
It is easy to feel slighted by a gruff response - I've asked some stupid
questions, and he responded quickly, tersely, but -correctly-. And that
was worth more to me than hand-holding would have been.
Please keep in mind, too, how obnoxious it is when people sign up for
lists and then cannot save the information about how they subscribed, and
how to unsubscribe. Some of us are on many list, and see quite a few of
those messages every day.
Sam doesn't run the list. He said so. Why do you expect him to spend time
finding the documentation for how to unsubscribe - when YOU are unwilling
to do the same? (Not you, Mathew)
