OK. I'm currently looking at the flow of the program so that
I can establish a big picture in my mind. I'll be able to write much
cleaner code if I understand how everything fits together.

With that in mind, I've been looking at the [#F#] tags (not the 'F'
tag in particular, but the general tag loop and display mechanism
we're using).

What are your thoughts on me expanding those tags to full
variable names for readability purposes?

I have some changes I'd like to make to the folder_contents()
function in folder.c that would be made a bit easier if we used
full variable names in the templates.

Such a change would slow template processing execution slightly,
but I think it's worth it for what we would gain in readability.
