I don't have any particular need to win any design purity contexts.  I'm 
not going to fix anything that's not broken.
I don't have much coding experience, just questions. 

Is there a way do templates with out really mucking around with the C 
source?  Like, maybe using perl or copying another system that was designed 
for a different program?
