Go to http://www.google.com/ In the search box, enter "[EMAIL PROTECTED] archive" The very first hit gives you a link to: http://www.mail-archive.com/[EMAIL PROTECTED]/ > Next, a message at compilation time is helpful, > but easy to miss or forget about by the time authentication errors are > discovered. Perhaps adding the message > displayed at compilation time to the email sent to new list members > would be best, along with a link to a list archive (if there is one). A comprehensive FAQ would be good. Comprehensive documentation for the entire application would be better. I did put some notes on common authentication issues in authlib/README.authdebug.html in the current dev snapshot:
I get intermittent authentication problems with vpopmail

This is a known problem with vpopmail 5.2.1 and earlier. You need to upgrade to 5.2.2 or later, and then recompile courier-imap/sqwebmail.
As a workaround, instead you can just recompile courier-imap/sqwebmail with the flag "--without-authdaemon". However that's less efficient.
But if upgrading vpopmail didn't fix your problem (and you *did* remember to recompile sqwebmail after recompiling vpopmail), then I'm not sure what your problem is. Try sqwebmail-4.0.3.20040502 which has some authentication debug functions in it. Regards, Brian.
