Tony's explanation is good - another way to look at it is that your 'viewer' (web browser) resized my big pic to fit your window, so you didn't actually see my huge, hi-resolution picture! You saw something reduced to fit. An 800x600 version would be less than 100K and would probably look the same on your screen. But, as Tony says, if we tried to make an 8 x 10 print of the 800 x 600, it would look very fuzzy.
