We've digressed. The initial point was that the current attachment format allows us to view them if we want, without torpedoing the mailboxes of those who may be on slower connections. It coincidentally provides protection from some of the email-borne viruses. Seems like the best of both worlds to me.
As for photo sizing, some good points have been made.
