Valentina Presutti commented on STANBOL-39:
-------------------------------------------
I agree that the best solution is to split kres into separate package. To be
really precise then the components would be four and their names could be for
example:
stanbol.reasoning - the component that provides interfaces to reasoners and
(if any) built-in reasoning functions
stanbol.ontology - the ontology and rule manager (the one with scopes, and
sessions)
stanbol.reengineer - reengineering from structured data to RDF
stanbol.refactorer - RDF refactoring
the last two are already organized as two different components/services.
But the cost of separating the bundles has to be evaluated first.
The name reasoner or reasoning in the semantic web and semantic technologies
fiels is commonly used for logic reasoners e.g. Fact, Racer, Pellet, etc.
That's why on one hand it would hide many kres functionalities if it was used
for naming the whole thing, on the other hand it would tell more than kres is
able to do :)
And I do not agree that the main goal of kres is to plug reasoners. It is one
of four goals :)
