Short answer, the memory for the SM is very unique and not interchangeable with any other Apple computer. You need to shop from a vendor that knows Macs and has memory listed as being for a PowerMac 4400 or StarMax computer. There is a firm 160MB limit on the StarMax memory. This consists of a 32MB DIMM placed in the 'Single Bank' slot and two 64MB DIMMs placed in the 'Double Bank' slots. Sometimes a 32MB DIMM will only access 16MB in the Single Bank slot, producing a computer with 144MB.
